Our surf school is located directly on-property at The Twin Fin Waikīkī — check in on the sand, gear up, and walk a few steps to the water with your instructor. No shuttle, no parking hassle — just a smooth start to your lesson.
Your Easy Start to Surfing
- Meet on the sand in front of The Twin Fin — your instructor greets you and gets you suited up.
- Start with a dry-land demo and warm-up on the beach so you know exactly what to do before you hit the water.
- Grab your board, walk a few steps to the shoreline, and paddle out to catch your first wave in Waikīkī’s friendly break.
- Your coach stays with you in the water until you’re standing and riding confidently.

Who is Jamie O’Brien?
Jamie O’Brien is a professional surfer from Hawaii’s North Shore, known for his fearless approach to surfing. He started surfing at the age of four and has been surfing ever since. Jamie has won numerous surfing competitions and is widely regarded as one of the best surfers in the world.
Jamie’s passion for surfing is contagious, and he loves nothing more than sharing his knowledge and experience with others. That’s why he created Jamie O’Brien School of Surf, to give people from all over the world the chance to live the dream and surf in Hawaii.
Safety & Team
Our instructors are carefully selected local surfers trained under Jamie O’Brien’s exacting standards. You’ll be using soft-top beginner-friendly boards, and we maintain a safety-first approach so you can relax and enjoy the ride.
Does Jamie teach the lessons, or do you work with other instructors?
While Jamie isn’t available to reserve a lesson with, he makes regular appearances both in the shop and in the water surprising guests and sharing their experiences with them. We employ a select group of top-notch LOCAL surf instructors handpicked by Jamie for their ocean knowledge and surfing prowess and trained to his exacting standards.
